Facilities
The Meeting Room provides excellent facilities for both parochial and secular purposes and is regularly used by village organisations such as the Gardening Club.
The handsome new porch leads into the spacious main room, off which are a well-appointed kitchen and toilet faciities. By arrangement, parking may be available in the school car park opposite.
About the project
In 1986, as part of a wider Church initiative to make church buildings more directly functional for both active churchgoers and the local community in general, a Needs Analysis identified an opportunity to increase the available indoor facilities for Stilton. After extensive planning and fund raising, the new extension was started in 1992 and formally dedicated by the Bishop of Ely in September 1993.
Careful design by the architect, Major John Gedge, incorporating the window from the old Vestry, resulted in an extension which looks almost as though it were part of the original C13th building. The quality of the design has been universally praised and it received a Conservation Award from Huntingdon District Council.
