A Weekend in Flanders
20 – 22 September 2019
Enjoy time in YPRES and GHENT on our next weekend trip.
Leaving Stilton on Friday morning in a luxury coach, we will visit the beautiful Passchendaele cemetery of Tyne Cot and then travel on to Ypres to explore the extraordinary historic buildings and find something to eat.
After dinner we will attend the moving Last Post ceremony at the Menin Gate and lay a wreath.
Finally, an hour’s drive takes us to Ghent in time for an initial stroll or perhaps a glass or two of something refreshing.
There is plenty to see and do in the superb medieval centre of Ghent, where we have all day Saturday and Sunday morning at our disposal.
Our hotel will be the well-appointed 3 star Ibis Ghent Centrum Kathedraal, very close to the magnificent cathedral and the historic old city.
On our way home on Sunday, we stop for our usual four-course gourmet lunch together in a country restaurant just outside Ghent.
The total cost is £275 per person in a twin or double room, including bed & breakfast and Sunday lunch. (£325 for single rooms).
A deposit of £100 per person secures your place. First come first served!
