The
Stilton Over 60s Club is run by a committee, and meets every
Friday afternoon in the Church Meeting Room between 2pm
and 4pm.
The
usual pattern for the first part of the afternoon is that
some members play dominoes and some play whist. Who ever
wins the most games of dominoes and whist during the year
gets to keep a cup for one year.
There's a break for tea and biscuits, and also the raffle.
The last half hour is then taken up with three games of
bingo.
Some
afternoons feature guest speakers covering such topics as
country walks, musical entertainment, wildlife, recycling,
mobility aids and other subjects of interest. Most of the
services have given talks, including the Police, Fire Service,
Pensions, Age Concern, etc.
There
are outings several times during the year, including a trip
to the coast in the summer, a mystery tour with a pub meal,
a Christmas show, and there's also a Christmas Party.
During
the year there are also fund raising events such as a coffee
morning, afternoon tea, and a bingo evening.
The
adopted badge is small and in the shape of a forget-me knot,
which originally was the badge of the National Old Peoples'
Welfare Council, before it was discontinued and reformed
with the more socially acceptable name of Age Concern.
