Stilton - Web Site Help |
| How
to navigate around the Stilton web site |
- Click
on the underlined text ('links') in the left-hand Menu Panel.
The bold, larger text will expand to display a sub-menu
of options, each of which opens a new page of information
in the right-hand panel.
- Click
on the "A to Z" option at the top of the Menu
Panel to display an alphabetical list of topics. Click on
the page link of a topic to open that page.
- The
'Back' button on your browser (e.g. Microsoft Internet Explorer)
will always take you back to the previous page, even if
a link has taken you to another web site.
- The
Stilton Village sign at the top of the Menu Panel always
takes you back to the Home Page.
|
| How
to navigate around the web site without a mouse |
You
can use the [Tab] key to step from link to link.
The tab order starts at the Address bar (if displayed) or the
Stilton village sign image at the top left, then moves down
the left-hand Menu Panel, then moves down the right-hand page
of contents. [Shift]-[Tab] moves in the opposite direction.
Hit the [Return] or [Enter] key to follow a link (underlined
text).
Use [Alt] - [left-arrow] to go back a page. |
| How
to search a page for information |
|
Some
of our pages contain alot of information. To search for something
specific, use the following browser search tools:
- Microsoft
Internet Explorer: use 'Edit->Find (on this page)',
or press Ctrl-F. Enter your search text in the 'Find what:'
box, select your Match and Direction preferences, and then
click the 'Find Next' button. Text on the web page matching
your search criteria will be highlighted; keep pressing
the 'Find Next' button until you find what you're looking
for.
- Netscape:
similar to Explorer, but the option is found under the 'Search->Find
on this page...' option.
- Opera:
the options can be found under 'Edit->Find...', 'Edit->Find
next' and 'Edit->Find previous', and work just like Explorer.
|
| How
to search the whole Stilton web site |
|
The Stilton
web site is regularly indexed by the Google search engine,
and that can be used to confine a search to
only this site.
As an
example, if you were searching for information on pilates
classes in Stilton, you would enter the following in the Google
search box:
pilates
site:stilton.org
and
three pages will be found: the A to Z listing which includes
'pilates' in its index, the Organisation - Adults page where
the details of pilates classes can be found, and this page,
as it includes the word 'pilates'. Google searches can be
made as complicated as you like, using the full power of the
search engine, but confined to stilton.org.
