CCAN
aims to capture and preserve community documents, photographs, cuttings,
maps, and also personal reminiscences in audio and video, and present
them in a consistent and searchable digital format on the internet.
Stilton joined the CCAN network in April 2008.
Stilton's
CCAN Home Page can be found here.
Our
first activities will be to scan and document the contents of the
village books. If you would like to be involved with this project,
or if you have any historic material for inclusion, or would like
to make any sort of contribution to Stilton's archive, please let
us know: e-mail contact@stilton.org.
Stilton's
CCAN Group organised a display of old group photos at the 2008
Stilton Flower Festival in the Church, inviting people to annotate
copies of photographs with missing names. A great number of additional
names and details were volunteered.
The CCAN project
was featured on BBC Look East in November 2008 - read
it here.
The
project is supported by Stilton Community Association and Stilton
Parish Council, Cambridgeshire County Council's Libraries, Archives
and Information Service, and the Heritage Lottery Fund.
